Pix now has a new dispute button that blocks amounts sent and speeds up refunds in the event of a scam, starting October 1st.
The Central Bank confirmed this Tuesday (September 30, 2025) the debut of the “dispute button” for Pix this Wednesday (October 1, 2025). The function, accessible in bank and fintech apps, is a self-service feature (Special Return Mechanism) designed to react quickly to fraud, scams, and coercion. Not valid for typo or repentance. When you press the button, the order is processed digitally without human interaction. The recipient institution receives the alert and blocks available resources, including partial values. The institutions then analyze the case for up to 7 days; if fraud is confirmed, a refund occurs within 11 days after the challenge.
