CFPB agenda, credit risk, supervision and insurer solvency – July 24, 2026

On July 23rd, Brian Johnson, the nominee to lead the CFPB on a permanent basis, had a confirmation hearing before the Senate Banking Committee.

The prior week, on July 15th and 16th, Acting CFPB Director Vought testified before the House Financial Services Committee and Senate Banking Committee regarding the Bureau’s activities, priorities, and future direction.

The hearings followed the release of the CFPB’s 2026 rulemaking agenda covering planned regulatory actions and reconsiderations across several consumer financial services topics.
